You never know when a former employer might be needed for a future reference.<\/p>\n<p>One of the sweetest and most satisfying aspects of leaving a job (assuming it\u2019s your choice, of course) is writing a succinct and professional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dongwubaike.cn\/fanhao\/tag\/resignation\" title=\"View all posts in resignation\" target=\"_blank\">resignation<\/a> letter to your employer. Don\u2019t worry if you\u2019re not a skilled wordsmith; a resignation letter should follow a relatively straightforward format. Nor does it have to be long. In fact, the shorter, the better.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When\u2019 Rather Than \u2018Why\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to include when you are leaving rather than why. This is the most important piece of information to include, but you\u2019ll also want to let your employer know that you have appreciated the opportunity to work with the company. Go ahead and grit your teeth if you need to; it\u2019s always a good idea to go out on a high note. Your professionalism is what people will remember about you.<\/p>\n<p>Also, resist the temptation to put your employer or coworkers down. Remember, it is one thing to talk about your \u201cBoss from Hell\u201d with a trusted confidant, but unwise to air your disdain in a resignation letter. Once your words are in writing they might as well be set in stone.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s fine to briefly explain why you\u2019re leaving, but only if it has nothing do with any negative experiences you\u2019ve encountered on the job. For example, if you\u2019re leaving to pursue a completely different career path, that\u2019s acceptable to mention. If you\u2019re leaving because you weren\u2019t treated respectfully or never got invited to lunch, it\u2019s best to keep those sentiments to yourself.
